STEP INSIDE THE WORLD'S GREATEST EXPERIMENT

The world’s greatest experiment is coming to Brisbane and Queensland Museum with presenting partner QGC want you to help celebrate its arrival. The Hadron Collider exhibition, on loan from the London Science Museum features the work of 10,000 men and women and their quest to uncover the fundamental building blocks of our universe.

 Enter the Future Makers competition and share your ideas and understanding of the Large Hadron Collider to go into the draw to win a Future Makers prize pack which includes a chance to see the exhibition during the World Science Festival Brisbane!

The Hadron Collider exhibition is on display at Queensland Museum from 9 December 2016 to 25 April 2017 and is proudly supported by QGC.

Imagine you have to explain what the Large Hadron Collider does to a 10 year old in under a minute. What would you say? Competition is open from Monday 5 December to Friday 24 February for school-aged children.


How to win:

1/ In a short video, outline what the Large Hadron Collider is and what it does in a video intended for a 10 year old in under a minute.

Prizes:


Future Makers prize pack which grants the entrant a family pass (2 adults, 2 children) valued at $44.50 to the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre; a family pass (2 adults, 2 children) valued at $45 to the Large Hadron Collider exhibit (bookings essential); one Hadron Collider merchandise pack valued at $50; a $100 voucher for the Queensland Museum gift shop and a $100 voucher for the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre’s Collectors Café.

The winning entrant must be available to travel to Brisbane over the period of the World Science Festival Brisbane between 22 and 26 March, 2017.
Accommodation for a family of four (2 adults, 2 children) will be provided for one night during this period up to the value of $250. The winning entrant will be able to select a night of accommodation of their choosing from either Tuesday 21 March through to Sunday 26 March, 2017.
Depending on the locality of the winning entrant’s and their family, assistance with travel costs up to the value of $500.
The winning entrant will also receive a family pass (2 adults, 2 children) to the value of $150 to a World Science Festival Brisbane 2017 ticketed event (event to be determined).

Guidelines:

  1. Entrants must upload their videos to YouTube and share the YouTube link to Twitter tagging @qldmuseum or posting publicly to Facebook and checking in at the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre.
  2. Entries must contain the hashtags #FutureMakersQld, #HadronCollider and #qldmuseum in the same post.
  3. Winners will be chosen based on accuracy and creativity, and must limit videos to one minute. The challenge is to succinctly respond to the task in the allocated time in an accurate and creative way.
  4. The challenge is designed to have entrants take a complex topic and explain it in simple terms so that a 10 year old could understand.
    The prize includes:
    • The winning entry will receive a Future Makers prize pack which grants the entrant a family pass (2 adults, 2 children) valued at $44.50 to the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre; a family pass (2 adults, 2 children) valued at $45 to the Hadron Collider exhibition (bookings essential); one Hadron Collider merchandise pack valued at $50; a $100 voucher for the Queensland Museum gift shop and a $100 voucher for the Queensland Museum and Sciencentre’s Collectors Café.
